It always surprises me when the very same people who have their baby's ears pierced long before the child could possibly give their consent, object to adults choosing to pierce themselves in places other than the ears. That's my little rant for the day.

Personally, I'm quite fond of piercings. Over the years I've had my belly button, nose, labret and upper ear pierced. I'm currently interested in surface piercings.

Anyhow, if you have any piercings, I'd love to hear from you. If you don't have piercings, what made you decide not to do it?

The last Jen got a ridiculously ostentatious 6.1 carat pink diamond engagement ring. This time Ben has gotten his new Jen (Jennifer Garner) a lovely 4.5 carat
diamond engagement ring.

The Diamond Diva points out that this ring cost only half as much as the first diamond engagement ring that he bought. Well, I say "only". Its still estimated to be worth a cool half a million dollars. Maybe that's all Ben's willing to gamble this time.

Well, that's the rumour anyhow. The guys over at News Askew haven't heard anything about it. So, maybe its all bunkum. Time will tell.

I've always wondered if diamonds were really the most popular gemstones. Sure they're sparkly and undeniably attention grabbing. But we both know that beauty is only skin deep, right? I love anything that's a little off-beat. So finding a site that gives simple, step by step instructions on how to turn a coin into a ring immediately got my attention.

The great thing about this site is that it makes use of tools you probably have at home - or could borrow. The instructions are easy to understand with photos to illustrate each step. My kitten died today. I'm not talking about some animal I bouught at a pet store either. So, here's the full story.

One morning when I was eight, I looked through all of my mother's cat books looking for the perfect cat for me. And I found it. A Russian Blue - also known as the Archangel cat. For almost two decades I prepared myself for the responsibility of this perfect cat. Two and a half years ago, I realised my dream and got myself an archangel cat.

She's the most persistant, annoying, vocal cat I've ever come across and every day I'm thankful that I have her. A couple of months ago though, she had an unscheduled pregnancy (fortunately the father also turned out to be a Russian Blue).

Vodka was born on 10 March and was perfect in every way. He was actually born on my bed. I woke up to find my cat washing this little bundle of life that was laying in my hair (I guess the concept of goo in my hair woke me up - needless to say, a shower was first on the agenda). Its an experience that just cannot be explained to anyone who wasn't there. He immediately captivated everyone with his very individual personality - we adored him. Today, however, without any warning, he died.

So let me tell you about the value of jewelry. Had I known what I know now two days ago, had I the wealth, I would have given every single perfect jewel up for auction at Christie's to prevent his death. Today, if you gave me the same jewels after his death, they would be worthless.

Yesterday Christie's auctioned a huge range of beautiful large carat jewels. Amongst them was the incredible 50 carat Graff diamond ring. Estimated to be worth between 3 and 4 million dollars, the ring is offered by Laurence Graff who has also handled such famous pieces as the Idol's Eye and the Hope of Africa.

Diamonds weren't the only pieces to steal the show. Also on offer was a flawless 8 carat Burmese ruby. It is considered to be a gem of much importance by Rahul Kadakia, head of the Jewellery Department of Christie's.

There's one auction I would have loved to attend!
