Except in that metal bands have done more to further the cause of piercings than any other part of the community, the death of a rock star probably doesn't have much to do with jewelry. It does have something to do with this particular blogger though. I've always loved music and Pantera was a big part of my high school days.

Dimebag Abbott was the driving force of Pantera, he and his brother Vinnie however both left the band and moved onto other things. Their latest band, Damageplan, was just starting a gig when a complete loser, who hadn't been able to con his way into the concert for free, ran across the stage and shot Dimebag five times. He died onstage infront of hundreds of fans and his brother, Vinnie Paul.

Twenty four years to the day after another crazed lunatic assassinated Lennon, we find history repeating. Have we learnt nothing in the intervening years?

Tomorrow, everythinig will be back to normal and we'll be discussing jewelry as always, but for today, please take a moment to think of this senseless taking of Dimebag's life, and send your best wishes and thoughts to his family.

Its been officially four weeks since I got my labret pierced. The time has finally come when I can ditch the boring surgical stainless steel and go for something more interesting.

I know what I want, and I know where I can get it. Technically. The problem is that having had access to wholesale prices, there is no way on earth I'll pay $30 for it. You do realise that retailers get this stuff for about $5?

So, if anyone knows where I can get a labret stud with a food grade stem and a purple titanium ball with a white gem in it for less than $10, do be sure and let me know.
