I have been an avid arts and crafter all of my life, and I also enjoy writing, originally working as a technical writer when first graduating from college. Eventually, however, with some luck and hard work, I managed to join art and writing together, moving from a highly technical profession to a creative career, and today, I write about the jewelry arts both on-line and off.

My on-line credits include maintaining the About.com Jewelry Making site since 1997, writing about jewelry and beading for b5media.com, and writing about working from home and telecommuting for wurk.net. I also have a personal site at (where else) www.tammypowely.com.

Off line, I write regularly for magazines such as Jewelry Crafts, and I have written three books: Making Designer Gemstone and Pearl Jewelry; Making Designer Bead and Wire Jewelry; and Making Designer Seed Bead, Stone, and Crystal Jewelry. I was also the creative consultant for Jewelry Making and Beading for Dummies.

While I make jewelry, I have to admit that my addiction to jewelry does not stop there. I enjoy all kinds of jewelry. From a classic strand of pearls to a funky-fun macramé choker, I love it all. My goal in this blog is to provide information and entertainment for jewelry lovers like myself.
