's big bling auction. Now here are some of the results. Not a big surprise, at least I don't think so. Her sparklies and bling goodies went for way more than anyone had estimated. There are some major Cher fans out there, and they obviously don't mind paying the big bucks for a piece of her.
Here are the details from Bloomberg.com:
If you wanted something to wear with the black 2005 Bentley Continental GT coupe, you could have had the Bob Mackie-designed black metallic gown with garters and fishnet stockings.
These were among the items bid for today at the opening round in a two-day auction in Beverly Hills of stuff owned by Cher. The pop singer and actress put costumes, jewelry, art, furniture, autos and personal memorabilia on the block.
The Bentley went for $170,000, reaching the top price estimated, while the Bob Mackie, worn by Cher on a People magazine cover in 1979, sold for $7,500, topping its estimated sale price of $2,000 to $3,000. A matching ostrich-feather boa, estimated at $400 to $600, sold for $1,900.
``We actually have the original People magazine that she wore it on the cover of,'' said Heidi Staub, 41, an in-room bidder who won both parts of the outfit. Staub, who lives in Mission Viejo, California, said she attended six performances of Cher's three-year farewell concert tour. The Bentley Continental went to a phone bidder. [...]
Among the items remaining to be sold is a platinum-and- diamond Van Cleef & Arpels necklace, the most expensive piece of jewelry in the auction, with an estimated sale price of $40,000 to $60,000.
