Mary Filipak and Lou Ann Townsend have been making this work for 20 years. Due to Ms. Smith's recent knockoff of their work, they drastically changed last year. They used to teach workshops all over the place and the word from one of them is Ms. Smith took a workshop and then starting producing imagery very much like theirs. Since Mary and LouAnn have been showing in ACC and Buyers Market for decades this issue is obivious to buyers and galleries. So much for artists having protected rights to their designs.

I utilize an entirely different material than Lou Ann and Mary do, so to suggest I learned this from them is patently ridiculous. I learned my process from Susan Kasson Sloan, who is a resin artist not a polymer clay artist - I have never taken a workshop from either Mary or Lou Ann. Also, as far as I am aware they have not been doing this for 20 years. I never even heard of them until several years after I took my business nationwide in 1998. Assuming the photojournalist got his facts right, they have been doing this (together, at least) since about 2002. I think you owe me an apology.

This issue is an on-going thing within the jewelry world. I just can't buy into the fact that *one* person invented any *one* technique. Isn't it much better to spend our time creating than pointing fingers?
