Bill Meyer may have never considered jewelry making so many years ago when he went to engineering school, but when you consider how computerization is merging more and more with jewelry designing, it makes sense:Meyer explains, "I sit down with customers and draw their imagination. They explain what they want and I draw it on paper. From there, we carve it in wax, either by hand or with a computerized 3-D CAD (computer-assisted design) system, which can then carve it for us. We show the wax model to the customer and make any changes they want. I send it to a caster and he casts it. Then it comes back to us and we set all the stones."
