Everyday Jewelry
Babies make a huge difference in most women's lives. When it comes to jewelry, that means no more shoulder duster dangle earrings, no more long beaded necklaces, and watch out for those elastic style bracelets that can be snapped off when a tiny hand grabs hold. I often forget this when I go to visit my young nephews only to find that when I bend over for a kiss, I'm soon held hostage by little fingers who have wrapped their way around my necklace. As I'm held up close and personal, slobbery hand grasping metal chain, I'm forced to call out, "Help! He's got Aunt Tammy! Help!"

Obviously, this scenario is nothing new, so jewelry designer Courtney Filer-Dougal, a mother of two and jewelry designer, put her designer's thinking cap on and figured out a way to create pretty jewelry you can wear everyday. That includes moms and doting aunts.

She is introducing her new line of jewelry, appropriate named "Everyday:"

Leaving frou-frou behind, Filer-Dougal is debuting her new metalwork line of jewelry, 'Everyday,' this month. With nary a bead in site, the new line is feminine without being frilly, and includes rings, necklaces and earrings. All told, there are 26 pieces in the line, evoking a range of emotions -- from the solitary sophistication of space, to the strength of the medieval era, to the Zen-like fulfillment of order amidst chaos. Modern yet romantic, the 'Everyday' line transcends the notions of form and function as independent ideals when it comes to jewelry.

"I started making jewelry that I thought was ornate, beautiful and colorful and then I sort of sat back and realized that it just didn't go with my jeans/black t-shirt uniform." she jokes. "So I decided that I'd make pieces I could wear every day, and even on the ever elusive night-on-the-town."

From the sterling XO (hugs and kisses) stamped disc earrings, to the hand sawn sterling moon necklace -- complete with craters and 'orbiting' freshwater pearl -- to the delicate concave sterling disc necklaces and earrings, layered in graduating sizes (some topped off with a gem rondelle), all the designs in the 'Everyday' collection truly can be worn every day, and every night -- even and especially on the ones that are special.
