I was a little surprised to hear that Harry Winston beat out Tiffany & Co. in this recent poll. What could the rich folk be thinking?

From National Jeweler: "In a recent survey of luxury consumers, Harry Winston was the jewelry brand named most prestigious, with Tiffany & Co. and Cartier tying for second place and Mikimoto coming in third.

The Luxury Brand Status Index (LBSI), New York-based Luxury Institute's survey of high-end jewelry, polled a representative sample of more than 400 households with a minimum gross annual household income of $200,000 and $5 million minimum household net worth (including home equity). Luxury brands that were rated alongside mainstream brands for comparative purposes, were: Asprey; bailey, Banks & Biddle; Blue Nile; Boucheron; Buccellati; Bulgari, Carrera y Carrera; Cartier; Chanel; Chopard; David Yurman; De Beers; Dior; Graff; Gucci; H.Stern, Harry Winston; Jacob & Co.; Mikimoto; Piaget; Tiffany & Co.; Van Cleef & Arpels, and Zales."
