Metalsmith and Jewelry Designer
Hilary Hachey first started working with metal after college in 1994. Prior to that, she had worked in many mediums, but when she started manipulating metal it just made sense. After much experimentation and apprenticing, she started her own business in 2000. Every piece is hand-fabricated from start to finish in her Baltimore studio.

Artist Statement
There are two basic steps involved in designing a piece of jewelry. First, I must have a visual concept. Once that has been established I must solve the problem of translating that concept into metal. My goal is to retain the sculptural qualities of the design while maintaining the function of the piece.
I consider my work to be architectonic. That is, a type of perceived sensibility to form and design that prefers the simple over the complex, and the well-built over the mass-produced."
I want to thank everyone who has purchased a piece of Hilary Hachey jewelry. I am constantly flabbergasted and flattered by the enthusiasm expressed by customers in the cities I visit.
