A " trunk show" is a termed used to describe a display and special sales at a shop or gallery. These are often created to feature the work of one particular artist as well as drum up business for the gallery that is showing the work of the artist. These types of shows are very popular among jewelry designers and other art-to-wear artists. Normally, invitations are sent out to special customers for the one day event, and the artist will bring a " trunk-full" of jewelry items to show and sell.

One company, Rendezvous Gallery, has decided to turn the idea of a trunk show into a way to help promote their artists: " Rendezvous Gallery is a virtual art gallery that presents the work of artists from across the country, showcasing items such as original fine art, furniture, sculpture, glass art, ceramics, metal, wood, fiber and handcrafted jewelry to a national clientele. [...] Each new online trunk show features between 60 and 100 pieces of jewelry consisting of necklaces, earrings, bracelets and pins doubling as pendants.
