The latest issue of Elle is on newstands today, but thanks to their PR folks, I got a little sneak peak, and I can also pass it onto you in case you haven't gotten your copy yet.

First, the cover really struck me because of the trends towards jewelry connected to clothing these days. I've seen this at a number of awards shows lately. While I don't think it always works, I love the idea of combining ornamentation with clothing, especially considering so many celebrities (for whatever strange reason) tend to pass on necklaces these days.

Now, this an be okay sometimes if you have the right dress and you have the right earrings, and an example of doing this right is Jada Pinkett Smith, who could really wear a garbage bag with a few holes punched out for her arms and still look fabulous. She is featured in this issue of Elle, and these are her thoughts on fashion in general: "I really used to think that [fashion] wasn't important enough to have a strong interest in, and I just realized that that's just not true. It takes an intelligence to know what looks good for your body."
