Because understated elegance never goes out of style
Chainmaille
Chainmaille was originally used in medieval times to make flexible armor that couldn't be penetrated by swords. It is made of interlocking metal rings. There are many different patterns or weaves, the most popular being 4-in-1. This means that every ring is connected to four other rings. It makes a lightweight covering that flows like cloth.
The 4-in-1 weave and it's variations (6-in-1 and 8-in-1), are generically classified as European weaves. The European family of weaves is the most commonly known, and the easiest to create. So most of the Chainmaille you'll see in the Lord of the Rings movies is made with European weaves.
Jennifer uses Chainmaille in a lot of her jewelry, and it gives her work that extra touch of elegance and style, like this necklace:

Ocean's Away Necklace
These beautiful Lampwork beads by Caroline of Crafted Gems have me daydreaming about clear blue water, palm trees swaying in the breeze and white sandy beaches...oceans away from where I am.
8x10mm Lampwork Beads on sterling silver circles that have been delicately hand woven in the Jen's Pind Chainmaille pattern.
Lampwork Beads are made by melting glass rods in the flame of a torch, and winding them around a metal mandrel to form a bead. There are many exceptionally talented Lampwork Bead artists. I don't think I've ever seen a Lampwork Bead used in a ring, and this one is gorgeous:

I began my jewelry fascination when I was a little girl while attending gem shows with my parents and grandparents. As I grew older, I enjoyed going through my Mom's jewelry and listening to her tell me stories of where and when she received each piece. My father traveled around the world with his job, and he bought strands of gemstones to bring home. He taught himself how to make knotted jewelry, and made beautiful necklaces and bracelets for my grandmother, my mother, and me. Several members of my extensive family make their own jewelry, some of them have done so for many years.
I use various techniques - stringing, wire wrapping, and most recently, the ancient art of Chainmaille. Every gemstone is unique, and I want to express that individuality and beauty in my designs. My style tends to be somewhat conservative, as that is who I am and what I prefer. I believe jewelry is an accessory, an adornment, something to highlight and frame a woman's face, not to distract.

Chainmaille is a very fun technique for jewelry. I especially like the chainmaille silver rings, such as the one seen here http://icevote.com/display.php?prodid=250050

Tivol the Pink Diamond Swivol!
I am in deep regret to relay the following fraud committed by Tivol Jewelery located at 220 Nichols Rd, Kansas City Missouri. He claims to be a second generation local business with a foundation based on integrity. However, I am a testimony of the exact opposite. The bottom line is Mr. Tivol and his old money have monopolized his way into a high-end jewelery market that took advantage of me to extreme level of intentional theft that defrauded me as a referred customer.
I took into the Plaza storefront an approximate 2.26 ct rare pink diamond that I had found in a house of mine in South Kansas City. This house is located at 619 E. 97th Street KCMO 64131 and is a piece to a big real esate fraud puzzle of which I have been victimized to the sum of biblical proportions.
After finding this gem, which was a single earring stud set in either white gold or silver. I was informed to take it to Tivvol Jewelry located here in Kansas City Missouri. They are supposed to be the most high-tech certified gemologist in our surrounding area. I had already had the stone tested as an authentic pink diamond at several other locations. I finally got the opportunity to take it to Tivvol (as reccomended) for appraisal and certification paperwork. After my visit to Tivvol they reccomended I leave the stone in there safe for additional testing. This was my biggest mistake. I received a phone call shortly after from Mr. Tivvol telling me that the appraisal and testing certification would be on the house (done for free) and the bad news was my stone was not a diamond and was actually a pink saphire. I was in so many other problems at the time this was the least of my worries. I received via US Postal the appraisal paperwork for the switched stone (pink saphire). I eventually went to pick up the stone on 4/1/2006 and immediately could see that it was not the same gem. Their paperwork (reciepts) did not match up to there certification and it was obvious they had commited high-end theft on my precious gemstone.
My first stop was at the KCMO Police station in which I was told they would not enter a police report on the incident and would only make a note of me coming in. They also informed me that I had outstanding warrants and that I was lucky they were not going to take me into custody on those. They asked me where I got the original stone and suggest it was probably stolen. I have in my possession the switched stone (very similar color and sized pink sapphire) that is my strongest links back to the case. I had reputable witnesses with me on every integral step of the proceeding. Including going to the KCMO PD and not getting assistance in the fraud and picking up the switched stone from Tivol Jewelry.
Any assistance or recommendations would be appreciated. I want to bring justice to this situation and let the public be informed of this local Kansas City Missouri act of jewelery business fraud.
Thanks for your help!
God Bless!
