affect. The jewelry industry is no different. Just think about all the small jewelry stores that dot the map in every town in the Gulf States. Many are privately owned small businesses, the " mom and pop" shop where you might stop in to get a necklace fixed or look for a special jewelry gift. JCK magazine reports that members of the jewelry community are stepping in and lending a helping hand. Here are just a few of the relief efforts in the works.
- " The Independent Jewelers Organization donated $5,000 to set up a relief fund for members in the Gulf Coast area.
- Jewelers Mutual Insurance has donated $25,000 to the Red Cross Hurricane Katrina relief effort.
- Stuller Inc., one of the world's largest jewelry makers and suppliers, has launched " a strong multi-fold initiative, to give monetary and personal assistance to our neighbors," Stuller told JCK. He said the company would extend credit terms and take other steps to help affected jewelers."
