Who would have thought a young king would have so much appeal and power so many thousands of years after his death? According to MSNBC, " the king remains a fashion icon, inspiring a new jewelry collection by Tamarac [Florida] designer Ruth Hirtz that is the official jewelry line of the Tutankhamun and the Golden Age of the Pharaohs exhibit."

Along with a 135-item exhibit that is touring the United States, Hirtz's jewelry collection, about 300 pieces total, will be sold in museum stores starting this October. While her collection is inspired by the king, she tried to make her pieces both affordable (ranging from $75 to $800) and wearable: " Hirtz uses semi-precious stones, silver, leather and multi-colored woven fabric pieces to craft unique pieces."

You can view much of the artist's ancient egypt Series on her website at www.ruthhirtzdesigns.com.
