I have been teaching for 8 years now. I recently (2 days ago) got my nose pierced. I also have a tattoo on my right had (a star). I feel that it is self-expressive, and what's the difference from having a teeny diamond stud from having 3 holes in my ears--which I have by the way. I am an excellent teacher, the record support that, my children adore me, and this doesn't affect my abilities professional or in any other matter. I have had several people at the school say they like it, and that it's barely noticeable.
