Within 5 years, the business had outgrown its little storefront; and in 1985 Ray purchased and renovated the building at 1607 Union Street, in Schenectady; Northeastern Fine Jewelry was born. Business continued to surpass expectations, and in November 1998, Ray opened a second location at 1575 Western Avenue in Albany.

After less than three years, sales at the new location rivaled those of the first store, and buoyed by this success, the company continued to grow.
