Girl loses jewelry, or the girl's assistant loses jewelry, boy finds jewelry, both live happily ever after.

Actress Salma Hayek was recently running around the big apple with a load of jewelry estimated at about $50,000 worth, and ended up leaving it accidentally in the taxi she was riding in. As luck and coincidence would have it, the person using the taxi after her is not only honest but famous as well.

Here's the skinny from The National Ledger: Salma Hayek received a fairly nice haul from Lorenzo Borghese - the royal star of ABC's nighttime reality dating game The Bachelor. No - the gorgeous star hasn't joined the cast and stolen the heart Lorenzo Borghese, she just got lucky in the back of a cab.

Okay - not like that - her assistant lost $50k worth of jewels in the back of a cab, and fortunately Borghese was there to rescue the jewels. Us Weekly transcribes the blow-by-blow as Salma explained the situation to Ellen.

Salma: "I was in New York for the domestic violence hotline [charity function] and I was going to wear some jewelry, some jewelry to borrow for the night because we [celebrities] do that -- all this bling-bling is borrowed. And I just picked something really simple, and they took the rest and this poor girl that brought me the jewelry left it in a taxi."

Ellen: "How much was it worth?"

Salma: "It was $50,000."

Ellen: "In a cab?"

Salma: "Yes, this is fantastic...the guy who is the Prince that is 'The Bachelor.'"

Ellen: "Prince Borghese?"

Salma: "Yes, Borghese gets in the cab right after that girl -- so random in New York -- and he sees an envelope that says Salma Hayek. Now his show is on ABC and my show [Ugly Betty] is on ABC, so he called ABC and said I think Salma Hayek just lost $50,000 worth of jewelry...and they gave it back."
