New York jewelry artist Stephanie Albertson loves the whimsical, magical, and expressive powers of jewelry. Stephanie handcrafts each piece in pure 24K gold that is alloyed to her signature 22K Gold formula. The gold is then made into sheet or wire, from which each piece is carefully crafted into its final form. Stephanie was trained as a metalsmith at New York's Jewelry Arts Institute, focusing on the classical principles and techniques of jewelry making as it was done in the Byzantine era. What is innovative about her work is that she has applied these ancient techniques to her modern aesthetic, taking classical principles out of their traditional context and making them fresh, modern and timeless. Each piece is polished before and after the stones are set, although not to a high shine. Stephanie prefers the natural beauty and surface texture of gold, and these slight variations in the metal are characteristic of her work.
