According to a recent newsletter I received from the folks at Swarovski, pendants are a hot jewelry items this season. I think I agree from what I saw recently from New York's Fashion Week.

Granted, clothing designers never use enough jewelry to accessorize for my taste, but if I did see any jewelry, very often it included long necklaces with pendants dangling from them.
