Keeping jewelry safe from damage and secure from dirt is possible if you keep some of the following tips and suggestion in mind.
Some of these tips might even give you some ideas for future jewelry related gifts to give or receive.
- If you have a really large amount of jewelry, you may want to invest in a jewelry armoire as pictured. This one is from QVC and costs about $150. It's super roomy, and another added plus is its anti-tarnish lining. You may even want to give some gentle hints to loved ones that this is a perfect gift idea for you.
- For high end pieces that you don't wear too often and are very valuable, you may want to consider getting a safe deposit box at a local bank.
- To keep tarnish at a minimum, which can be a big problem if you like sterling silver jewelry, keep jewelry pieces in air tight containers so they don't oxidize so quickly. Even a plastic bag can go a long way in keeping your silver hoop earrings bright, shiny, and ready to wear when you are on the go.
- Pearl lovers need to be extra careful not to put on your jewelry and then put on your makeup and perfume. These can damage porous gemstones and pearls. It is also a good idea to keep pearls in a soft cloth bag. Normally, you'll receive a small bag for this purpose when you purchase pearl jewelry pieces.
