Wooden You Jewelry?
As part of the mixed media trend that is becoming so popular lately, jewelry designer Wendy Culpepper is mixing it up with wood and metal.

This designer explains that she looks at her jewelry construction much like an engineer would when constructing a bridge:

For many, jewelry is a luxury or small adornment. For me, making jewelry became an outlet that melded the dichotomy of my life's interests. I often describe designing as engineering. Each model is a small piece of art engineered to balance the challenges of aesthetics, quality, comfort, and construction. I have the opportunity to make art that is both beautiful and functional. I don't feel art should be something that you must understand. You should feel it. When you see a piece, you should enjoy it for whatever emotion it evokes in you (even if it is just a shopping high). For me, jewelry is my art, my outlet, and my passion to share with others.

From her Tribute Collection, made with wood, beads, and metal:

There is also blog associated with this site, though it doesn't seem to be written by the designer - still interesting.
