Maggie MacLean (93 articles)

I am a young grandmother of five beautiful children. In addition to writing, I also enjoy cross stitch, sewing, quilting, and lots of reading. I am an amateur historian, and I enjoy writing about women's history. I am currently writing two history blogs: Civil War Women and History of American Women on Blogger. So there's not a lot of free time at my house, but that's the way I like it.

Victoria Tillotson (14 articles)

I'm Victoria Tillotson, jewelry designer, metalsmith, author, historian and all around metalchik! I teach jewelry making at School of Visual Arts in NYC, have my own commercial jewelry line, do occasional TV appearances, and create videos for my jewelry channel www.metalchik.com. My jewelry has appeared in magazines such as Lucky, Bust, and WWD, and is owned by many celebs as well. When I'm not in jewelry lala-land, I put my Ph.D. to work at an auction house specializing in historic manuscripts. Right now, I'm working on my OWN manuscript for a book on silver jewelry making at home, which will be published in 2009 by Random House. I love jewelry and want to spread that love!

Ruth Schaffer (1 articles)

My name is Ruth Schaffer and I'll be keeping you updated on the latest news and developments in Biotechnology, Allergies and Pregnancy. I have a Master's Degree in Microbiology and previously been been teaching at the University of the Philippines. I also spent more than five years at the International Rice Research Institute, working on paddy soil microbiology and biochemistry, followed by a brief stint in a university in Germany working on iron-reducing bacteria from marine sediments. Currently, I am a freelance writer and copy-editor for scientific manuscripts, based in Singapore, one of top centers for life science research in Southeast Asia.

Although I am a scientist by training, I am a work-at-home mom to a precocious 5 yr-old (plus one in the oven!), and an editor of a webzine. I also keep a blog about functional foods and Asia travel.
